Weekend Group Long Runs
A variety of weekend long run options are arranged by email. On Tuesday or Wednesday the long run coordinator requests long run leaders (i.e., anyone who is willing to commit to a particular place and time) to send him their long run plans, and those plans are then summarized in a subsequent email sent to all team members on Thursday or Friday. RSVP's to the long run leaders are encouraged in case there are any last-minute changes of plan, but just showing up is fine as well. The long run leaders will announce their intended distance, but all paces and distances are welcome. Family and friends who are not team members are also welcome to join.
Common starting locations of the runs include:
Tupelo: 5700 Elvas Ave. Sacramento, CA 95819 (http://www.nakedcoffee.net/tupelo.html). It's about 0.6 miles from the parking lot to the bike trail on the west side of the H St. Bridge, and about 2 miles to the Howe Street undercrossing (mile 8.5).
Bella Bru: 5038 Fair Oaks Blvd. Carmichael, CA 95608 (http://bellabrucafe.com/carmichael.php). It's 0.8 miles from the parking lot to mile 13.5 of the American River Bike trail, where the question is always "left or right?".
Gold River Starbucks: 2095 Golden Center #10, Gold River, CA (off Sunrise). This is near where the team meets for the "Penn Hills" Tuesday night workouts. It's 0.8 miles to mile 20 of the bike trail with access to Lake Natoma upstream.
Sac State Aquatic Center: 1901 Hazel Avenue Gold River, CA 95670. Access to the bike trail around Lake Natoma.
Karen's Bakery: 705 Gold Lake Dr # 340 Folsom, CA 95630. Access to the bike trail around Folsom Lake.
Coffee Republic: 6610 Folsom-Auburn Rd #2, Folsom, CA 95630 (http://www.coffeerepublic.info/). 0.3 miles to the Folsom Lake trail at the north end of the Folsom Blvd. Bridge over Lake Natoma.
